1. Etna: excursion to the Summit Crater<\/a>s<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

It is perhaps the most evocative experience. Venturing up to the summit craters of the highest active volcano in Europe is an emotion without equal. To reach the Rifugio Sapienza <\/strong>, you need to follow the signs to Nicolosi<\/strong>, the gateway to the southern side of Etna<\/strong>, and then proceed along the provincial road (SP92) to reach what the people of Catania have always called \u2018a muntagna<\/em>. From there, take the cable car together with the volcanological guide<\/strong> and continue on foot up to an altitude of 3000 m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the many paths that can be found on the volcano, one of the most characteristic is certainly the one that concerns a historical event of crucial importance for all of eastern Sicily: the eruption of 1892<\/strong>. At 2000 m. a.s.l. with boots on your feet and a desire to walk, you discover the lava flow that gave rise to the Silvestri Craters<\/strong>. From there it is also easy to reach the Cassone cave<\/strong>, one of the most extraordinary examples of lava flow caves, characteristic of Etna eruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A half day between lava terrain, dirt road and incredible nature trails<\/strong>. The Etna quad tours start from the Alcantara Gorges <\/strong>and reach up to about 1850 meters, at the height of the Piano Provenzana<\/strong> ski resort (Etna north). But from there you can’t just ski. Just leave the quads and choose to go on foot to arrive, after 1h30 of walking, at the new craters recently formed after the 2002 eruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. B<\/a>y bike on Etna, a unique natural park<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

Etna is a natural park<\/strong> of great charm, and the Pista Altomontana<\/strong> \u2013 a trail that is being re-evaluated \u2013 offers everything a cycle tourist could wish for. At 1700 meters above sea level, you start from the South-West side and arrive at the North-East side. In the middle, a semi-circle to discover accompanied by a guide or alone.
